S048: "Short, with a bushy grey beard and a bald head, though he's combed a few
strands from the back over the latter, deluding himself into thinking no one
else will notice.
He's dressed in a white lab coat stained with dark chemical streaks of green
and iodine, and a name tag with "Dr R Micryn" on it. He looks a little like
your grandpa. Only his head doesn't have liver spots on it."
S049: "the"
S050: "He's tall and thin with a smooth chrome skull, and outfitted in
stone-washed jeans and open camouflage vest."
S051: "You look pretty sharp, with your jewelled sword and lightweight suit of
armor. Not everyone would, but you sure do."
S052: "Oh yeah. Check out those biceps and pecs. You're totally pumped. (Too
bad the underwear is on the outside of your costume. It looks really dorky,
spoiling the effect.)"
S053: "It's hard to get a good look at yourself in this big, bulky diving
suit."
S054: "Bare washboard chest. Camouflage pants. Combat boots. Bright red
headband. Heavy machine gun. You da man."
S055: "You look down at yourself, but you don't seem to be there. Nifty.
(This'd have possibilities with Margot.)"

S071: "Green Guul"
S072: "Death-from-Above"
S073: "A large carrion bird with black feathers and a sharp beak."
S074: "BrainLeech"
S075: "A slimy, eyeless, worm-like creature with a big sucker for its mouth."
S076: "BrainLeeches"

S080: "A hooded, faceless figure, in a red cloak."
S081: "Banbaskan stands nearly eight feet tall, with sharp bladelike scales
protruding from his arms, legs, head and back."
S082: "A squat scaly figure holding a large decorated war spear."
S083: "It's a giant mouse. And it breathes fire. Just trust me on this."

S090: "bookbag"

S092: "You use it to haul your skateboard and PlayStation Portable back and
forth from school. It could probably handle books, too, if the mood ever struck
you."

S095: "Looks like Jackson's having a bad hair day, too."
S096: "Flanked by Hollerith's Game Emporium and the D-Mension, this side alley
is a path less trodden by the masses, the preferred thoroughfare of hackers and
techno-freaks. Tonight, though, it's oddly silent aside from the occasional
rumble of thunder. To the south are the glass doors through which you first
entered, and the concourse joins the mall's primary artery to north."
S097: "Hollerith's or the D-Mension?"
S098: "From here, you can see rows of software, and some sort of promotional
display set up in the back."
S099: "There's a mall directory in the center of the concourse."
S100: ""Present this coupon at any store in our Food Court and receive $1.00
off the purchase of an Ultra-Gulp (TM) 64-oz. drink." Nifty."
S101: "Or the mall entrance, if you're coming in from the outside, though you
don't see anyone quite so unfortunate at the moment.
Occasional flares of lightning reveal the storm roiling outside, violent
splashes of rain cascading against the glass doors."
S102: "Huh-uh, no way. You're not going out into that again."
S103: "A second, drier set of doors opens into the mall to the north.
Warm air wafts downward from a blower overhead."
S104: "Doesn't look at all like it's letting up, or even planning to anytime
soon."
S105: "The mall's main avenue begins here at Famous Bazaar and extends eastward
across a network of walkways and railings. These encircle gaps in the floor
through which artificial trees poke from the lower level.
Another side concourse is north of here, and the doors you came in are a short
distance back to the south."
S106: "There's nothing but shoe stores in that direction."
S107: "You can't afford anything in that place."
S108: "You're already on the upper level. The escalator goes down."
S109: "You enjoy scaring little kids by telling them they'll get sucked under
if they aren't careful."
S110: "There are two doors here. You'll have to be more specific."
S111: "A token dispenser sits just inside the entrance."
S112: "It has a slot for bills and a sign reading "TOKENS: 1/$1.""
S113: "Yes, Margot's a Cubs fan. You've tried very hard not to hold it against
her."
S114: "She's dressed in her typical college-student attire: baggy, faded jeans
slashed at the knees; back-length blond hair in a ponytail, threaded through
the back of a blue Chicago Cubs cap; a tie-dyed t-shirt a size too small, which
serves to accentuate the gentle swelling of her chest."
S115: "Yeah, she definitely has too much around the eyes. It ends up making her
look like she's always tired."
S116: "God that little silver stud looks good on her. It wouldn't look good on
everyone, but it sure looks good on her. Very nifty."
S117: "Presumably, Margot has keys to the arcade and all of the machines."
S118: "At least Abe can do something with his mop."
S119: "Each token is slightly larger than a quarter, with the words "D-Mension
Arcade" and "NO CASH VALUE" on one side, and a picture of a hooded, faceless
figure on the other."
S120: "The usual fixtures, none of them particularly clean. There's a mirror on
one wall, and a door leads east."
S121: "A single paper towel hangs from the dispenser."
S122: "Quilted, for triple absorbency. Nifty."
S123: "Back to the arcade, or outside?"
S124: "A quick peek through the window reveals that it's still pouring down
rain."
S125: ""Mortal Kombat 6," "Virtua Fighter 4," "Tekken 3," "Killer Instinct 5,"
and the "Street Fighter 3 Ultra-Turbo Championship Special Edition." Last
month's biggest hits, no longer money-makers since the home versions came out."
S126: "The dust is very dusty."
S127: "The oblique Computer Space machine appears even more strangely
futuristic than the technologically superior consoles it predates."
S128: "The Computer Space machine's coin box is nothing more than an old paint
can!"
S129: "Now, Washington, there's a guy with rotten hair."
S130: "Hollerith's is as spotless as a manufacturing clean room, but the
massive glut of titles -- from home video games to computer software to a few
odd-looking Japanese imports -- weighing down the shelves lend the store a
drab, depressing appearance.
One corner appears a bit brighter, where three game systems have been set up in
some kind of promotional display."
S131: "the"
S132: ""Mortal Kombat 6," "Virtua Fighter 4," "Tekken 3," "Killer Instinct 5,"
and the "Street Fighter 3 Ultra-Turbo Championship Special Edition." All the
hottest titles, all fresh from the arcades."
S133: "Mostly cloned 3D shooters and multimedia graphic shows with minimal
interactivity: "Dork Mimesis," "Pyst,"
"Phantasmannaannabobannabananafannafofannamemymomannaannagoria," "I Have No
Butt and I Must Poop," and similar tripe. A few nifty strategy titles, like
"SimSim" ("Build your own hopelessly convoluted computer simulation game!"),
but nothing you actually feel like playing, especially at these extortionate
prices."
S134: "All of the Japanese games have long, bizarre titles like "Super
Rayxanber World 3 Special Puyo-Puyo Boy Yoshi Ranma 1/2 II.""
S135: "Nifty. The boxes are divided into panels, with each panel showing a shot
from one of Activision's 2600 games. There are a total of six collections."
S136: "Oh, MAN. Poor Hamilton's 'do is just hopeless."
S137: "There's nothing but shoe stores in that direction."
S138: "Everything else seems to be closed."
S139: "The mall cineplex opens west of here."
S140: "You and the gang rarely catch flicks here, since there are only three
theaters and they all feature stale popcorn and crummy six-year-old digital
sound systems.
This week's selection clinches it: Walt Disney's "Moby Dick" (replete with
squishy feel-good sentiment and exaggeratedly gorgeous female lead), Wes
Craven's "Scream 5" (which you just saw with the gang), and "Starstruck," a
lame-sounding romance-comedy about a beautiful but reclusive young woman who
ends up falling in love with a high-profile movie actor after he accidentally
hits her with his car."
